Don’t worry, here is everything you need to know!
Roller derby is a fast-paced team sport played on roller skates. Two teams skate around a track, with players working together to score points while blocking the opposing team. It’s exciting, physical, strategic, and most importantly, a LOT of fun!

Skater Roles:

1 x Jammer
The one with the star on their helmet. The jammer scores one point for each opposing blocker they pass, scoring four points per lap.
3 x Blockers
The ones with no helmet covers. Their goal is to stop the opposing jammer while helping their own jammer get through.
1 x Pivot
The one with the stripe on their helmet. The pivot is a blocker who can become the jammer! If the jammer gets stuck, they can pass the star to the pivot, who then becomes the jammer.
A roller derby game is made up of two 30 minute periods, consisting of short sections of play called jams that last up to two minutes.
Each jam starts with the teams lined up on an oval track. On the whistle, the jammers race around the track, trying to get past the opposing blockers and score points.
Teams work together to help their own jammer through while stopping the opposing jammer from scoring.
